Dunlap showed up ready to play and scored a touchdown on senior Luke Bennyhoff’s 40-yard run less than two minutes into the game. However, junior Jack Ierulli’s kick was unsuccessful making the score 6-0.

A highlight of the game was when senior Charlie Mangieri took down the Potter’s quarterback. Mangieri later ran the ball in making the score 13-0 at the end of the first quarter.

At the beginning of the second quarter, junior Myles Burke’s pass to senior Isaac Guyton resulted in another Eagles touchdown. Ierulli’s kick was good bringing the score to 20-0.

Guyton said, “It was a big game for us because both teams were undefeated and we were trying to make history in Dunlap football.”

Dunlap scored again on senior Luke Bennyhoff’s 60-yard touchdown run. Ierulli’s field goal kick raised the score to 27-0.

The Potters got on the scoreboard next after their quarterback ran for a 59-yard touchdown.

Just before halftime, the Eagles answered when Burke’s 23-yard pass to junior Josiah Miamen resulted in another Eagles touchdown. Once again, Ierulli’s kick was good. At the end of the first half, the score was 34-7 Eagles.

“Before every game we talk about our jobs and the things we have to do in order to win,” says Guyton.

Going into the third quarter, the Eagles continued to look strong. After getting the ball, Bennyhoff ran it in allowing the Eagles to score again. Ierulli had one last good kick making the score 41-7.

The Potter’s came back once last time in the third quarter receiving the kick off return from Dunlap and scoring on a 62-yard run bringing their score to 41-14 by the end of the third quarter.

After a scoreless fourth quarter, Eagles came out on top with a 41-14 victory bringing their record to 5-0 so far this season.

Senior Kyle Black said, “I felt confident that we could win. I knew that it would be a good game but I was still confident that we could win.”
