Eagles Boys Basketball Season Tips Off

The Dunlap boys basketball team is looking for a successful year after a spectacular calendar year from various sports programs at Dunlap.

The Dunlap Eagles boys varsity basketball team tipped off their season with a shaky start (1-4), but hopes to continue the long playoff and state runs from Dunlap’s track, cross country, swimming, and football teams.

The head coaches for the Eagles basketball teams this year are Tony Thomason, Chris Bergschneider, and Corbin Parker.

Head coach Tony Thomason is excited about the season and expects the team to produce when they are at full strength. He is expecting the return of integral leaders that have been on a break after a state runner-up football season.

Thomason thinks things will run more smoothly when the players return saying, “Everyone can go back to their normal role.”

Senior Isaac Guyton and junior Josiah Miamen are two of the five players expected to join the squad before the team’s second conference game. Both athletes earned accolades in football for their

standout performances at the wide receiver position.

Miamen has big plans for the team saying, “I think we can complete the missing pieces and bring home some hardware.”

Last season the Eagles finished the season with a 5-25 overall record, with a 4-9 Mid-Illini Conference record.

The team’s most popular game every year is Pack the Place; free t-shirts are thrown out and outside food vendors set up shop in the commons. Pack the Place will be on Jan. 26, 2018.
