Dunlap senior Becca White was recently awarded a full-tuition scholarship to attend MidAmerica Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas.

She won the scholarship after entering a competition in which she had to write an essay about MidAmerica Nazarene University spirit. She wrote about how to live a purposeful life and what was her passion to serve. She also had two interviews and was required to submit a resume and portfolio.

Becca, who is a Certified Nursing Assistant, plans to study nursing to carry on her family’s tradition. Her mother was a nurse, her grandma was a nurse and even her great grandma was a nurse.

She eventually wants to get her nurse practitioner degree and focusing on kids with special needs. She wants to use her nursing skills to share her love of god with other people.

Becca is an avid softball player and has played the sport since she was 8 years old. She has played varsity softball for three years as a pitcher and first baseman.

Before Becca got this scholarship, she got one for softball that paid for housing cost. So she is thrilled to not only have the opportunity to play in college but to attend for free.

Becca has not only played softball at DHS but participated in other sports like volleyball her freshman and sophomore year. She is also an avid leader for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes club.
