Last Tuesday, 138 juniors joined the ranks of DHS students who have been inducted into the National Honors Society.
Students were honored not only for their academic achievement but civic service and high personal character.
As part of the ceremony, current members gave speeches about the five different aspects of National Honors Society. Outgoing members were also acknowledged announcing the college they plan to attend and the major they plan to pursue.
New inductee Maddie Kerchkove said about being inducted into the organization, “NHS is such a wonderful opportunity for all the students here at DHS, and has such a positive outlook for all of our futures.”
Senior, Sarah Georgieff, who is a current member, said that NHS is more than just walking across the stage and having your name read. She said that being in NHS helps her feel that she is a part of something, and know that “My hard work wasn’t just for nothing.”
After the ceremony, the students filed out of the auditorium into the cafeteria for refreshments where they celebrated with family and friends. parents.
