The Girl’s Basketball team has optimistic expectations for their upcoming season, beginning on November 17.


The Lady Eagles’ main goal is to win 20 games and the Mid-Illini Conference. The team also hopes to be successful in tournaments.


“The conference is good,” says junior Ellie Sorenson, “We have a different team dynamic this year and will need to work on team chemistry.”


The Eagles’ expect to face challenges such as, working on team bonding, conditioning, and communication.


The Lady Eagles’ strengths are their speed, ball handling, and defense.


“Our biggest strength is our depth and experience throughout the team. We do not have one superstar, but many very good players,” Coach Heather Cassidy says.


The Lady Eagles play as a team and support each other on and off the court.


Junior Tahra Davis says, “Everyone will be a key player this year, whether they are playing or not. We play for each other and are starting to create a bond.”


The seniors will provide leadership for the team this year. The seniors’ focus is “being a leader and helping out teammates,” senior Taraji Davis says.


The Lady Eagles hope to see an increase of attendance at their home games this season. The team hopes to be encouraged by the crowd.


“We will be a fun team to watch,” junior Elle Sutter said.


The Lady Eagles’ hope to have a big crowd at their first home game on December 7.
