Postseason play is right around the corner for the Dunlap High School boys basketball team.

Despite their record, the Eagles have an opportunity to make it in the postseason. Regionals start the week of February 25.

Game pairings will be announced February 15.

This year’s new head coach is Raymond Card. New assistant coach is Dustin Hess.

The team consists of six seniors, three juniors, two sophomores, and two freshmen.

“We are working on getting better with each practice and game so we can play to our best ability come postseason,¨ says Coach Hess, ¨The great thing about post season is that the records get thrown out, and everyone is 0-0 and trying to win to advance.”

This mentality is what the team will have to take into the playoffs if they hope to make a run.

The team’s current leading scorers are Cody Baer and Kyle Hawthorne, scoring an average of 14.3 and 9.8 points per game, respectively.

Success can be found for the Eagles this year in their two victories over Washington High School.  These wins helped them to avenge their 0-2 record against Washington from last year.

Other wins this year include two against Mt. Zion High School, one against Rochester High School, and one against Peoria Quest High School.

Coming up on Saturday, Feb 9, the team will take on East Peoria High School at home for Pack the Place. The theme this year is Wild West. T-shirts for the game have been sold for $10 to raise money to support the Dunlap High School Parents Club.
