DHS teacher and freshman basketball coach Corbin Parker is a very humble person, who cares about character and loves helping others to build their own.

Mr. Parker graduated from Manual High School and then later attended Columbia College. As a  coach, he has earned six basketball championships with four different Peoria middle schools.

The Eagle Eye caught up with Coach Parker and got to learn a little more about him including his favorite coaching moments and his favorite basketball player.

Eagle Eye: What has been your favorite coaching moment is season:

Parker: So far it was when my freshman boys basketball team had a comeback against Central High School. It would have been easy for them to quit, but they showed perseverance and believed in themselves,” says Parker. He was beyond impressed by the way the boys played and acted.

Eagle Eye: Where is one place in the world you would like to travel?

Parker: Jamaica due to the humbling and giving nature of its people.

Eagle Eye: We know basketball is a passion of yours. What’s another?

Parker: God. He is the reason for my ability to help people, especially the boys I coach.

Eagle Eye: If you could have a superpower, what would it be?

Parker: If I could have a superpower it would be the ability to fly. That way I can travel the country without having to pay and travel times would be shorter.

Eagle Eye: Finally, who is your all-time favorite NBA player?

Parker: Michael Jordan due to his fierce competing style along with his drive to win that transcended sports.
