If you’ve been in the front office, you will have noticed a new face. Kim Wulfekuhle joined DHS in January as the newest secretary.

Although new to Dunlap, she is not new to the area having grown up in Peoria, where she attended Richwoods High School.

Mrs. Wulfekuhle attended Iowa State University where she majored in Exercise and Sport Science. But eventually found her way back to Peoria, where she worked at OSF for five years and then for eight years at Caterpillar.

“I never imagined I would end up here raising my family,” Mrs. Wulfekuhle said. This family includes two kids at DHS; junior, Kaitlynn, and freshman, Blake.

The Eagle Eye was able to interview Mrs. Wulfekuhle and learn a little bit more about her.

What is your favorite part of your job?

Wulfekuhle: I really enjoy being around the students. I had a hard time in college deciding between majors, so I feel like I have had the best of both worlds. Besides, where else can you work full time and get the summers off?

What is the hardest part of your job?

Wulfekuhle: Since I’m new to the high school policies, I am still learning every day.  Once I get those down, my hardest part will be learning all the names of the students.

Who was your role model growing up?

Wulfekuhle: My father. I have always looked up to him and often ask myself, “what would dad do?” Everything from his kind heart to his insane work ethic. He has taught me so much…even when he thought I wasn’t watching or paying attention.

What 3 words would you use to describe yourself?

Wulfekuhle: Dedicated, caring, determined.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Wulfekuhle: My favorite pastime is watching my kids in their sporting events. They certainly keep me busy! Aside from that, this is my favorite time of year – I love college basketball and March Madness!
