DHS senior Felix Yang is this year’s winner of the Peoria Symphony Guild Young Artist Competition.

Yang, who is a cellist in the school orchestra, performed with several other Dunlap students, but his was considered “the best of the night¨ by the judges.

¨When I heard my name I just couldn’t believe it,¨ Yang said.

Although he has been playing cello since sixth grade, he never dreamed he would win something like this.

Yang will now have the privilege of playing alongside the Peoria Symphony Orchestra on April  23.

There will be two shows, one at 10 a.m. and another at 11:45 a.m. at the Peoria Civic Center.

¨I am so nervous to perform with the orchestra,¨ Yang says. ¨I mean they’re all professionals, and I’m just a kid!¨
