Dunlap’s Music Program Dominates at State Competition
April 23, 2019
On April 13, Dunlap High School students performed in the IHSA State Organizational Contest at Kewanee High School.
Students ensembled from across the state to perform and were judged using a rubric to determine their excellence.
Dunlap’s Show Choir, Women’s Chorale, band, and orchestra performed, receiving straight I’s from all three judges.
Mrs. Reece, Dunlap’s music teacher, said, “Students performed very well, especially after such a long week in preparation for Fine Arts Night!”
Dunlap attends this state mandated contest every year, unless it falls during spring break.
“Student growth is first and foremost,” said Reece, “Holding ourselves to a high standard in rehearsal, learning, and presenting the concepts and techniques required by the state rubric, and creating healthy, well-rounded musicians.”
