DUNLAP, IL- Dunlap players and coaches have big hopes this 2019 season for their tennis team.

Dunlap junior Taylor Disharoon (19-3 singles and 22-3 overall) and senior Alexa Kolesiak (9-0 singles and 14-8 doubles) both are key returners that have high hopes for their fall of 2019 season. They ride on many returning players and their past experience to carry them far into the postseason. Patrick Gornik, head coach of the women’s tennis team, is very confident that their team will be successful.

When asked how the team is looking for the 2019 season, Disharoon said that they are going to be solid due to five of six returning players on their roster.

“First goal above all is to get well as a group. Building team chemistry is key to any sort of success.” stated Coach Gornik.

Coach Gornik, who has lead the team to a 9-1 record, wants his goals for his team to be that everyone plays to the best of their abilities and win a conference title before anything else.

“I’m hoping that all of our hard work will pay off and we will be able to win all of our matches on that first day of sectionals guaranteeing us a spot at state. I think we all have the amount of skill to make it, but it also comes down to the draw.” said Kolesiak when asked if a state championship was in sight for the team.

Both Disharoon and Kolesiak are key players for Dunlap tennis who have both been playing tennis since they were at a young age. They hope to power through a tough conference and gain a conference, sectional, and hopefully a state title.
